This is the updated Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 VMware Image, sorry that it took a while to arrive. The VM works perfectly and reacts like a native system. It’s completely vanilla, and existing Apple drivers have been modified rather than installing completely new ones. The list of (included) changes in this build are as follows:

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 VMware Image Changelog -------------------------------------------- - Comes with direct download links. Nothing special, but requested. - Completely Vanilla build (aesthetically). No customized Bootloaders etc. - Faster boot up time. Should boot in way under 1 minute on most machines. - Fresh installation of 10.7.5, everything was taken care of before or during installation. - iCloud works well, none of the issues that occur in the OS X Mountain Lion builds (apparently). - Improved support for AMD systems again, the ones which do work now function better than previous versions. - New packaging method which allowed for a smaller download. - Several driver patches to allow as best a universal build as possible. - Snappier system. Clicks receive response instantaneously.

As you can see it’s pretty similar to the previous Lion VMs seeing as we’ve ‘perfected’ them. Make sure to watch the following video for instruction on how to set up the VM and for any additional important information. If you want any download links, just check underneath the video:

If you wish to download the image via torrent, you can grab it from here. As promised, I’m including direct links as well this time around, but you’ll have to deal with the fact that they will be slower than the torrent. You can find the direct links here.

Hi, guys. Can you help me with a problem: I’m registered iOS developer and I want to use my iPad for testing but when I connect it and run iTunes or XCode Organizer utility I got a “Could not establish a secure connection to the device” error message. May be there is some trick that can help me in this situation? Except this issue your OS X VMware image is perfect. Thank you for such a good job.

Hope to help improve this work with constructive feedback – not a complaint (you get enough of those, I’m sure).

AMD Deneb X4, Workstation 9 – machine runs other 64bit OS without issue, 10.6.7 works fine.

Booting this VM in ‘verbose’ mode (I temporarily used darwin_boot_tools.iso to see this), the boot tells me the following:

    Can’t load kext com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily – link failed.

    Dependency com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform failed to load
Failed to load kext com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform (error 0xdc008015)

panic( cpu 0 caller 0x55b495) “Unable to find driver for this platform: \”ACPI\”.\n”@/Users/nawcom/Builds/xnu-1504.3.12/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExper.cpp:1393

    More if you need it.

I think I can mount the drive from 10.6.7 (haven’t tried that yet) – the ACPI drivers appear to load in 10.6.7 (4 CPU’s)

In case this matters, I can’t run the unlocker on VMWare 9 – don’t seem to find a version that recognizes 9, but I tried 8 where the unlocker does run, same error.

For some reason VMWorkstation 8.x wasn’t stable for me. Other machines had issues with that, but 9′s been fantastic (was on 7.1.4 for ages, running 10.6.7 fine).

    Hope that’s useful.

If you find something can be dropped into the drive of this VM, I can try to mount that using 10.6.7 and copy things in to try it out – might be faster/easier for anyone already possessing this package (likely anyone going for VMWare 10.7.5 would have a running 10.6.x)

What error with the unlocker? Should be fine on 9. And there’s nothing you can do, it’s the kernel that’s the issue.

Hi there. Thanks for this image. However, im having issues with USB. I’m trying to connect various devices but it doesnt work (iphone ios6, ipad ios6..)

They seem to connect via vm-removable devices-connect
but they don’t appear in osx. For some reason, the iphone when connected show in some weird way in osx, it opens as image capture but it doesnt show in itunes. The ipad doesnt do anything at all.

Do you have any ideas what causes this ? I’m running vmware workstation 8.0.2 unlocked. Thanks in advance for any help !

Hi there, thanks very much for your job, it’s fantastic
I have it running under linux mint 14 but it doesn’t mount the darwin.iso image so I can’t install the VMware tools in the VM settings I have chosen the iso image but there’s nothing in the desktop or anywhere in osx.
Any idea what can be causing this?
    Thanks

    Hello, guys.
Is it confirmed that your images of 10.7.x are compatible with VMWare Workstation 7? Zack mentioned in the video for 10.7.3 that the machine is compatible with VMWare v7, but I did not have success running it on workstation 7.1.4, among other things, Im stuck at ‘darwin11′ guest complaining and can’t do much about it (changing it to other values doesn’t do the trick). Also, could running the machine without upgrading it on higher VMWare version (8) make it permanently incompatible with lower version (7)? Can’t you just modify the .vmx to make it run on v7 again? And what about the later releases – 10.7.4 & 10.7.5 – are they VMWare 7 compatible?
    Thanks in advance!

Please can someone explain to me the step by step process in installing this vmware image.. i downloaded it and extracted the content.. now i have Three folders:
    1: Mac OS X Lion
2: VMware Unlocker – Hardware virtualisation Bypasser
3: VMware Unlocker – Mac OS X Guest

i have an HP DM4 Core i3, 8GB RAM, 640GB Hard Drive. can i use the Mac OX S to dual boot? if yes kindly tell me, and if no, pls put me through on how to install the VMware, but i’ll appreciate more if i can dual boot…

Pls i’m not an IT GURU.

    Thanks

  9. Linda Jackson says:

I downloaded the VMImage in EXE format, and it seems that the .EXE is packed by 7zip. The caption/title of the extraction window is Mac OS X 10.7.4, however, other messages indicate that it’s a 10.7.5 Image. I tried it in VMWare Workstation v8.0.3 on Intel E8400 and v9.0.1 on Intel Q9400. However, neither case would allow me to boot into the Desktop, the boot process stucks on the screen showing an apple and a spinning circle. I have tried all the possibilities, however, still cannot boot into Mac OS X 10.7.5. What could be the issue? Thank you!

    • jack says:

I had the same issue, make sure you run the tools in “VMware Unlocker – Mac OS X Guest”. I modifed VMPlayer using “VMware 8.x Series” scripts. Ubuntu 12.10 (64bit), works perfect.

    Hi there,

Thank you for all of your awesome work and the torrent. Unfortunately, I am having problems running the virtual with my VMware workstation 9.0.1. I am getting an error “The CPU has been diabled by the guest operating system.” I’ve researched the error and tried altering the vmx as suggested by some, but nothing seems to be working. Any advice? Thanxx in advance.

  14. Wolf Haley says:

Every time I try to start it up it gets stuck on a blank white screen that says vmware. I have also ran the guest patch and AMD’s AMD-V/Hyper-V checky thing says I am capable of virtualization. Am I doing something wrong, or should I modify something? Thanks!

    AMD Athlon II X4 630 @ 2.8GHz
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    ATi Radeon HD 5870 1GB DDR5
Dell Inc. 0NWWY0 A00 motherboard, Dell Inc. A05 BIOS
    running VMware Workstation 8.0.1

EDIT: I increased the RAM to 2gb, VMS > Options tab says that the guest OS is on Mac OS X 10.7 32 bit, and the CD/DVD (IDE) is on auto detect, as well as my sound card and display.

  15. Cyrus says:

Hi, you really did really well putting this together but i have 1 problem. When I boot up the VM it just goes to a screen with a cross on it where the apple logo should be, this is right after i click start virtual machine. Is there anyway to fix this? thanks in advance

  16. zezu says:

    My Vmware image working good!
But when I connect my USB Flash drive it do not detect my USB Flash drive and message appears to Power off the window. What I do ? Can you plz help me about this issue?

    • ZackehSoul says:

That will be a VMware thing, something must be wrong with your system. Unfortunately I have no idea what!

    • cromag says:

I have the same problem. External drives work fine but when you try to connect a usb drive the vm crashes with a “you must power off” window. I thought I had this fixed at one point and I don’t know what changed. Maybe I didn’t and I just used the external drive. IDK but I am having the same problem.

  17. Stefanos says:

Which virtual machine is more stable or faster ? This version or the 10.8.2 ?

    Thank you

  18. I have VMware Player 5.0.2 build-1031769. I followed the directions in the video, but as soon as it loads to the grey screen with the apple in the middle, it crashes VMware Player.

I’ve run both the unlocker in the “VMware 8.x Series” folder and the one in the “VMware Player Unlocker” folder inside the “VMware 7.1.x Series” folder.

What should I be doing differently?

    • ZackehSoul says:

It’s not necessarily the unlocker causing the crash. Do you have VMware logs?

      • I actually solved it by downloading the 10.8.2 version and it worked great. Thanks!

Any guess as to when you might get a working VMware Tools disc image for the 10.8.2 release? I can’t wait to go full screen.

Also, is there a tweak to allow the apps at the bottom to enlarge when the mouse hovers over them?

        • ZackehSoul says:

That’s built into Mac somewhere, just look about for it. And yes, check here for VMware Tools.

          • Ok, thank you!

Random, but is it possible/recommended to back up the OS from VMware and then use it on a partition to dual-boot Windows 7 and Mac on the same computer?

            • ZackehSoul says:

Interesting. It’d probably be possible, but whether it’d work or not I’m unsure – depends what you’re backing up I guess. You could try it, but don’t hate me if it goes wrong :p

              • I’ll try it. My system is backed up in case it back fires.

I’ll post as to whether it worked or not. I just need more speed out of the mac to do what I want, so booting it as a normal OS seems to be the only way to go.

  19. Fedek9001 says:

i have a problem mounting cdrom iso files, no drives detected into guest machine, so it’s impossible to use cd-rom drive.
    I’m sing Vmware workstation 8.0.4.
    Any help please ?

    • ZackehSoul says:

Are you sure? Just because it doesn’t appear on the Desktop doesn’t mean it’s not connected. Did you make sure to connect your drive to the VM?
